Book Title: The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden
Author: Jessica Sorensen
Date Published: December 13, 2012
Publisher: Forever
Genre/s: New Adult, Romance, Young Adult, Contemporary, Sociology-Abuse, Realistic Fiction
My Rating:

About the Author:
The New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Jessica Sorensen, lives in the snowy mountains of Wyoming. When she's not writing, she spends her time reading and hanging out with her family. - http://jessicasorensensblog.blogspot.com/

Summary:
For Kayden, suffering in silence was the only way to survive. If he was lucky, he could keep his head down, do as he was told, and make it through the day. But one night it seemed like his luck-and his life-might finally end... until an angel named Callie appeared just in time to rescue him.

Callie has never believed in luck. Not since her twelfth birthday when everything was taken from her. After the worst was over, she locked up her feelings and vowed never to tell anyone what happened. Now, six years later, she continues to struggle with the painful secret that threatens to consume her.

When fate lands Kayden and Callie at the same college, Kayden is determined to get to know the beautiful girl who changed his destiny. Quiet and reserved, Callie still fears letting anyone else into her world. But Kayden is certain that Callie has come back into his life for a reason. And the more he tries to be a part of her life, the more he realizes that, this time, it's Callie who needs to be saved...

Reaction:
Okay, so the first thing I noticed about this book was the cover. *hawwwt* But when I flipped the pages, my heart dropped. I'm not saying that this book is not good. It's good, but it never made an impact on me. The story is about two people facing their own problems. It was pretty tragic, with the abuse they received even when they were still young.
Callie, I knew her problem the very first time it was mentioned. I knew it. I know that what she faced was really sad and her life changed at a very young age. I am seriously pissed at his brother for some reason, like really.
Kayden, It took him so long to fight back. Gosh. But I don't blame him since his father is still a father. But gosh, his father is such a butt head!
Luke & Seth are both nice people. They're both funny and all. I can sense something between them though but I can't point it out. I thought they'll be together or something. lol But oh well.
And then finally, Kayden & Callie's secrets went out and I kept waiting and waiting for something big to happen but *pooooof*.
I was freaking frustrated by the ending. I do not know if I'll read the second book or not.

BOOK REVIEW: CITY OF BONES
Tuesday, March 26, 2013 ( 6:26 AM )| 0 comment(s) dropped

Book Title: City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1)
Author: Cassanda Clare
Date Published: 2007
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books
Genre/s: Urban Fantasy, Young Adult, Paranormal, Romance
My Rating:

About the Author:
Cassandra Clare was born overseas and spent her early years traveling around the world with her family and several trunks of fantasy books. Cassandra worked for several years as an entertainment journalist for the Hollywood Reporter before turning her attention to fiction. She is the author of City of Bones, the first book in the Mortal Instruments trilogy and a New York Times bestseller. Cassandra lives with her fiance and their two cats in Massachusetts. - www.cassandraclare.com

Summary:
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .

Reaction:
First of all, let me just say that I'm not a fan of third person narration/point of view. I think It's one of the reasons why I got bored with this book so easily. I actually expected a lot from this book but it just led me to disappointment. Like really. The very reason why I was urged to read this was because the movie adaptation will come out on August. So why not read the book first before watching the movie right?
So, anyway, I liked the story but i didn't love it. See the difference? It was an "okay" kind of book. I can say that it was pretty predictable. I was expecting a lot of blows that would make me go "WOAAAAAH! I did not expect that!" but instead, it made me go "I KNEW IT! I FREAKING KNEW IT!". The best thing about this book would be Jace Wayland, of couse. Like duh, who else? Although he is an arrogant butthead, he never fails to make me swooooooon~
"And next time you're planning to injure yourself to get my attention, just remember that a little sweet talk works wonders."
I kind of felt sad for him because of his past. His story about the falcon his father gave him broke my heart.
"The boy never cried again, and he never forgot what he'd learned: that to love is to destroy, and to be loved is to be the one destroyed."
Awwwwwwww. Jace, honey, come here~~ Okay. Except for being cocky, this guy also plays the piano. (ADORKABLE!) Jace and Clary kissed at the green house on her birthday. I thought "Finally, here comes the romance part!" but I was wrong. One moment all things are perfect, then another moment,  it just freaking fell apart. LIKE WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE?! It was really frustrating!
Okay, okay back to the characters. I felt bad for Simon. I really felt like Clary was just using him. I know! Tsk. Tsk. But oh well, whatevs. The characters never really made a huge impact on me.
I actually do not know what to say anymore. Well, the twist in the end was a bit of a shocker for me. (But not really. lol) I want to know what will happen next to Clary and Jace since you know, they kissed and all and I can't help thinking what will happen next to them? Because of the err... *twist*.
So there you go. I'll read City of Ashes soon.

I just recently found this on a GoodReads thread so I'm gonna answer it here. :)

Who do you read? (Who are your go-to authors?) Jennifer L. Armentrout, Stephanie Perkins, Suzanne Collins & Colleen Hoover are my favorite authors. <3

What is your favorite book genre/series/ or stand-alone book? or maybe What type of book do you prefer? (ebook, hard-copy, soft-copy etc)  I love romance and anything YA. But I kinda try reading different genres of books to expand my horizon. And ofcourse i prefer soft/hard copy but most of my books are ebooks.

When do you read? or maybe When did you know you were a book-nerd? Anytime of the day when I feel like reading. I started to love reading when I was a freshman in High School, i think. But got really into it when I was a Junior.

Where do you read? Anywhere. But usually in quiet places where I can concentrate.

Why do you choose the books you do? I get hooked by the cover and the summary. And if it has romance in it, then I'll go read it.

How much do you read? I read a lot. I tend to finish a book in one sitting. I like it like that because if it's a good book, i want my imagination to be continuous. If you know what i mean. :)

**
That's it! Yey! Anyway, i changed my theme. It's simpler now, right? And I shall make a book review tomorrow of "City of Bones" by Cassandra Clare. AND I'M GOING TO BUY THE SELECTION BY KIERRA CASS YAAAAAAAAAY.

Almost summer!

I can feel it. It's effing hot here in the Philippinesssss! And I'm really sweaty right now. I know, ewww right? lol. So anyway, it's almost summer and classes are finally coming to an end. And you know what? I'm broke! A while ago, I went to National Book Store with my friend and I saw some of my "to-reads" in GoodReads and i was like "What the heck?! Why are they selling these books when I'm effing broke!" And of course, no one answered me. That would be weird, right? We also went to music wizard to ask for Ukulele strings because my friend's uke's strings were broken and so the salesman said that they have one and it's for 150 pesos. And I was like "What the heck?! 4 strings of Uke which is just so short for 150?! Why is it so expensive! I'm broke!" Of course i didn't actually say that. That would be weird, right?

And here I am, blabbing about what happened a while ago and why is it so hot in here and why am i broke. So sorry for wasting your precious time reading this while you could've done something productive. lol.

So yeah. Bye for now.

xo,
Bee

midterms!
Monday, January 21, 2013 ( 4:30 AM )| 1 comment(s) dropped

Dear Readers,

Good Evening, Good Morning, Good Afternoon! I haven't read much these past few days. I've been busy cleaning and organizing my books. Yes, I kind of have a bookcase now but it isn't big. I was hoping for a bookcase/bookshelf that can fit a hundred books. Soon. I know I'll have one soon. Oh! By the way, I bought a book called Ditched: A Love Story by Robin Mellom and I'm planning to read it later this week. I still don't have time coz it's midterms week so I have to study. I'm also planning to buy The Summer I Turned Pretty novel this week. Although I've already read the book, I still want to grab a copy.

My churchmate bought me a Rilakkuma bag! Actually, I'm going to pay her. Haha. I'm going to show it to you in my next post. Gah, I'm so excited! I also applied for a loyalty card in National Book Store. I don't know what to post anymore. LOL. I'm trying my best to review for this week's exam but my mind doesn't want to cooperate. Gaaaaaaah. I'm hoping for high grades. I need to step up.
Okay, I'm gonna go review now~ 'Til the next post! :)

Laters, baby.

Dear Readers,

I've heard a lot about this novel called "Fifty Shades of Grey". My classmate asked me if I had read it. I told her no. She said it was a good novel and told me to try reading it. I finally downloaded the ebook version of this book and gave it a try. Although it has an "erotic" aura, I tried reading it. I don't usually read those kind of books but I mean, I'm open minded, you know. I started reading yesterday and I'm about to finish it. All I can say is, this book is so detailed in the scenes. Christian Grey is unbelievable. lol I mean, he's hot, rich and all but his hobby, or his interest, i should say? Totally unbelievable. Still, he is so adorable. OMG! "Laters, baby." Makes my heart drop! I want more REAL romance though. And I'm still thinking if I should read the next book in the series.

Questions: Have you read this book? What do you think about the book?

P.S: These are the books I finished reading this week:

  1. Evermore by Alyson Noel
  2. Crash by Nicole Williams
  3. Hopeless by Colleen Hoover
  4. The Selection by Kiera Cass

Have a great week, everyone! :)

It's adventure tiiiiiiime!

Dear Readers,

Are you still there? Oh my gosh. It's been __ months since my last post. And I am extremely sorry for that! I've been distracted, most of the time. But hey now, I'm back again. I've been reading a lot of novels. Also, i started the GOOD READS READING CHALLENGE again. My goal is to read a hundred books. As of now, I've read 17 books. A good start! Yaaaaaaay.

Last week, I've read:

  • Bakit Di Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo by Ramon Bautista
- The book made me laugh a lot because Sir RB is such a witty guy. His answers are so clever. The only thing I don't like about it is that, we have different opinions in some topics. And some of his comments are insulting also. If you read this one, you should be open-minded.
  • A Hundred and One Reasons by Bianca Salindong
- There are Typo and Grammatical errors. I love how her family stayed strong throughout the story. What I don't like is that the story was too fast. And I was hoping for more romance. Awwww <///3
  • The Fault in our Stars by John Green
- Now this one. I don't even know where to start! It's just sooooo frustrating! I love Augustus Waters! He is such a great guy. I love his lines. He is sooooo romantic. God, Hazel Grace, you are one lucky girl! I love Hazel's smart-ass. She's an intelligent person with a bit of sarcastic attitude which I love. One thing that bothers me is that, after their make-out session, I felt like everything fell apart. I felt like Hazel's love for Augustus faltered. She doesn't even call him Augustus anymore. But still, I loved how it ended. Even though it's so tragic. AND I EVEN CRIED. HECK, I DID! Gaaaaaah. I wish I could find my own Augustus. <////3
  • How to Sleep with a Movie Star by Kristin Harmel
- OHMYGOD Cole Brannon is love. He is such a gentle man! *swoooooooons* Claire's ex boyfriend is a whack-o. I hate him, gosh! And Sidra, oh my gosh. If she gets hit by a car, I would be driving that car! I love how the story ended. It lacks in romance, yes. But I love how the two of them just clicked. Gosh, it would've been better if it was longer, or if the story focused on the romance part. Still, it's a great story and Cole is just UGH-dorable.

Currently Reading: Crash by Nicole Williams
To-Read: An Abundance of Katherines by John Green

I'm craving for books! I want to read and to read and to read again and again and again. lol. I want to buy many books. Anna and the French Kiss is on the top of my to-buy list although I've already read it. I still love it and I will read it over and over again.

Hey! What's your favorite book? What are you reading right now? What genre of book do you read?
